Fabric Guide: Ponte
Posted by Lauren on Dec 9th 2021
Let’s face it, we're living in the era of hybrid-work, hybrid-school, hybrid-everything! After a year of working from home in our most comfy activewear, we need styles that are forgiving and comfortable. Swing Control ponte is the answer to our fashion-prayers!
But what is ponte?
Well, probably the most comfortable fabric you will ever slip on. Ponte (also known as Ponte di Roma) is a combination of rayon, polyester and spandex. This thicker, 4-way stretch, fall weight, double-knit fabric moulds to your body while creating a smooth and streamlined silhouette.
How Do You Wear Ponte?
Being that ponte is a fall-weight fabric that fits closer to the body than - let's say - a regular pair of golf pants, you can pair it with a cozy cable knit sweater or fleece jacket on the course. Off the course, ponte bottoms looks super stylish paired with a trendy cropped jacket and ankle boots. Honestly, ponte is a gorgeous option for any day you want to feel stylish and comfortable.
Does it Wrinkle?
Nope, not at all. Ponte is machine washable in cold water, no need to bring it to the dry cleaner. Because the fabric is tightly woven, you'll never need an iron. Ponte usually has great 'recovery', which means the fabric won't loose it's shape after being worn. Ponte bottoms are a great staple investment piece for your golf/work wardrobe.
